ABOUT

Paw Prints is about two kinds of "prints": 1. marks, tracks or impressions made in or upon a surface by pressure and 2. lettering or other impressions produced by ink from type. In a "paw print," this blog is about books. Reading. Writing. Reviews. Essays, musings, mutterings and both kinds of prints as they reflect Aslan, the Great - and untame - Lion of Narnia.

Welcome

Welcome to Paw Prints, where the focus is on books, writing, and faith.

Please note that many of the books featured here are from an evangelical Christian perspective. But not all. Some of the books featured here are simply enjoyable stories and well-written literature worth sharing. Some are profound, others fall into the category of "fluff" or even "chick lit." Some you may like or agree with; others you probably won't. That's okay. The books featured here are either personal favorites or bombs, as in, "don't bother." My purely subjective criterion for the former includes:

-- Does this book or story provoke thought, expand horizons, pose questions, introduce the reader to new characters, cultures, setting or possibilities?
-- If fiction, are the characters well-drawn, three-dimensional and dynamic?
-- If non-fiction, what kind of "take away" value does the book offer? What do I learn from reading it?
-- Is the language emotive, expressive, lyrical, beautiful, and crisp?
-- Is the book's message clear, coherent, uplifting and/or challenging?

My hope is that Paw Prints will "bite" you with a love for books and reading, and help plant and nurture a love of both the written word and The Living Word.

Solo deo Gloria.

About Me

Second star to the Right, Straight on 'til Morning
I'm a reader. Writer. Lover of soul-stirring words and life-changing books. My favorites? That's like asking a mom which child she likes best. I confess a great fondness for The Velveteen Rabbit, The Little Prince, Dr. Seuss, and all things Mitford or Harmony. I'm also a big fan of the man in the yellow hat (don't tell anyone). I earned a double major in Bible and Communication/Print Media from a leading Christian university. My professional background includes work in public relations and marketing as a staff writer and editor. I spent several years in aerospace in strategic planning and market analysis before “retiring” to get a real job as a Professional Mother and Homeschooler. I've authored ten books to date and am working on my next title.

Is He Quite Safe?

"Ooh!" said Susan... "Is he - quite safe?"...
"Safe?" said Mr. Beaver; ... "Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you."
... "He'll be coming and going... One day you'll see him and another you won't. He doesn't like being tied down-and of course he has other countries to attend to. It's quite all right. He'll often drop in. ... He's wild, you know. Not like a tame lion."
